The Top 5 Reasons to Choose MilitaryToBusiness

1. Proven Methods

We are all recent Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School graduates who have helped people just like yourself, and we know what it takes to help you succeed. From directly helping candidates (see Testimonials) to working through the admissions committee helping in military recruitment, we understand where you are coming from and what it takes to build a successful application.

2. Deep Devotion

Veterans care about your success unlike anybody else. We will always go the extra mile to make sure you are successful in your new mission. Our commitment to you is not just a business transaction – we are passionate about your success.

3. Shared Experience

We've been in your shoes, your boots, and your uniform. We've led in uniform. We've deployed multiple times, and we've all faced some of the same career questions you may be facing now. We also understand your experience, achievements, as well as weaknesses… and we know better than anyone how to best position you to succeed in your new endeavor.

4. Applied Discipline

Discipline and an organized approach are trademarks of any successful campaign… whether they are military campaigns or new business ventures, one rarely succeeds without a methodical and well laid out plan. Your transition to the private sector is no different. We provide the tools and the guidance to help you unlock your maximum potential.

5. Maximum Value

We understand that admissions consulting and career services are extremely expensive for just about anybody, and especially for somebody on a government or non-profit salary. We understand this because we were in the exact same situation as you are today. For this reason, we've made every effort to discount our services for military and public sector members. For the kinds of results we can help you achieve, this will probably be the best investment you ever make.

Do I need an admissions consultant?

Not necessarily. Applicants with access to friends, family, and mentors who have a solid grasp of the MBA application process and a deep vested interest in your success may not need an admissions consultant. An admissions consultant is certainly not a prerequisite for admissions to any school, and MilitaryToBusiness encourages all applicants to reach out to current students and their own network to get as much assistance as possible.

Not every applicant however will have access to family, friends, or colleagues who are both familiar with the application process, and that take a deep and vested interest in your success. For those applicants, they should decide for themselves how comfortable they are with the process and whether they could benefit from professional feedback. A consultant who understands your unique situation and is experienced in helping people of your background can significantly increase your chances of success by helping you find your voice, convey your experience, and avoid common pitfalls. Whatever you decide to pursue, we are passionate about your success.

Ok, but why would a non-traditional applicant need an admissions consultant?

Non-traditional applicants are often in greatest need of guidance when it comes to their applications. Consultants and bankers for example are already on a fast track to business school, and while it is extremely competitive for them, they can rely on the cohort a year ahead of them, their supervisor, sometimes even their company to provide insight and help with their application. Non-traditional applicants on the other hand are often applying in total isolation. They may not even know anybody else applying to a top graduate school, or may find other isolated individuals along the way who are just as uninformed about the process.

Common pitfalls for non-traditional applicants therefore often trip them up, in what could otherwise have been a very successful application. Common uncertainties for example are:

  • How do I convey my deployment experience?
  • Which professional accomplishment stories should I highlight?
  • What part of my story should I actually focus on? What is going to resonate with the school?
  • How do I get my recommenders to understand what the school is looking for? They are not like traditional recommenders which do this every year.
  • Should I talk about my undergraduate experience? Is that even relevant?
  • How do I convey analytical skills when I've always been in non-technical leadership positions?
  • I've been immersed in my job duties for years... how do I showcase that I am more than just my resume?
  • I don't know what I want to do long term... or even short term maybe. I need some help to translate my drive and motivation into a credible career track.
For the above concerns, and many more, to truly address them requires an understanding of you as a complete person, your personality, your history, and your goals. There is no "formula" for successful admissions - if there was one - everybody would use it and then it wouldn't work anymore. Top performers know there are no shortcuts for success. As your personal advisor, we help you navigate the competitive field, and ensure you maximize your chances of success.
